Literacy
Please read with your child at least once every day! Talk to them about the story; where is the story set (farm, woods, beach), talk about the characters, support children to describe characters. Can they guess what might happen next? Can they retell the story?

Monday 11th January Maths

This week we will be using the nursery rhyme 'Ten in the Bed' to support our Maths learning. Before you start, you might want to gather 10 toys from around your home to use during the song.

Maths- Part one (Thursday 6th January 2020)

Today we are looking at mathematical language of more and less. Can you see if you can use two bowls or baskets and sort a number of toys into the baskets? Guess which one has more or less and then count them one by one to see if you are correct. Can you find some numbers in your environment at home can you say these numbers? We would love to see your photos of this on Evidence Me.
Maths- Part 2

Here is an extra challenge for the children if they would like to have a go at making their own number sums. This can be done with Mag numbers, number cards or even written on paper. Have fun, we would love to see your photos.

Can you find different textures in your home or garden? See if you can find something smooth, shiny, sharp, stretchy, soft! What do you notice about those words? Can you say them and talk about the sound you think they start with? Can you think of any more 'S' words to talk about the different textures and materials in your home?
