Reception - St. Catherine - Mrs Pritchard and Miss McDonagh
Welcome to St Catherine's Class Page
Class Teacher: Mrs Pritchard and Miss McDonagh
Teaching Assistant: Miss Blundell
RE:
In RE this week we are learning all about Mary and thinking of ways that we can show our love for Mary.
Phonics:
This week we are learning to read and write the tricky words do, when, one, what, my and her. We will also be learning to write words with adjacent consonants anywhere in the word and introducing polysyllabic words.
Maths:
This week we are continuing our learning identifying doubles and halves of numbers to ten.
A love of reading!
'
Reading is the passport to a world of adventures...' The ability to read is one of the greatest gifts we can ever give a child. As adults we all remember those special books that we loved to read as children; those books that made us laugh, smile and of course the adventures they took us on.
At St Rose’s, we want to instill in every child this same love of reading. We have worked with the School Book List to resource every classroom book corner at school with a fresh range of appropriate and exciting texts. These include a wide range of fiction and non-fiction texts for the children to enjoy when they are reading for pleasure at school.
Please try to hear your child read every day. If they have no words in their books, please ask your child to tell you the story by using the pictures. Please sign to say they have read each day in their reading record and make any relevant comments. Please can you send your child's reading record in every day so that we can record when they do Guided Reading with an adult in class.
This week's learning
Key Information | |
Reading Books | In Reception school reading books are changed weekly. Your child will be allocated a book change day, which you will be notified of in the Autumn Term. If there is no comment in your child's Reading Record we will assume you have not had a chance to read with your child. Please record the text title(s) in your child's reading record. |
P.E. Day | Our P.E. day is Friday afternoon. P.E. kits should be kept in school at all times. We will send them home over the school holidays. Long hair needs to be tied back and earrings are not allowed to be worn in school at any time. It would be helpful if girls could have a pair of white ankle socks in their PE bag for the days they come to school wearing tights. |
Forest School
| Our Forest School day is every other Thursday morning. Please make sure your child has their forest school kit and wellies in school. |
