Reception - St. Catherine- Mrs Pritchard
Welcome to St Catherine's Class Page
Class Teacher: Mrs Pritchard
Teaching Assistant: Miss Blundell
What we have been learning:
In RE this week we have been looking at the Easter story and focusing on how Jesus's friends felt when he appeared to them. We talked about how we would feel if Jesus came in to our class.
This week the children have been revising the sounds that they have previously learnt and applying them in activities that practice their reading and writing skills.
This week we have been looking at numbers to 20 and beyond. We have been ordering numbers to 20 and finding missing numbers in a number sequence.
In English we have been reading about the life cycle of a robin (As there was a nest outside Nursery's classroom) and some facts about Robin's. We have then been ordering life cycles of birds and labelling them and writing a sentence about a robin. We talked about describing something by using a simile.
Please try to hear your child read every day. If they have no words in their books, please ask your child to tell you the story by using the pictures. Please sign to say they have read each day in their reading record and make any relevant comments. Reading books are to be returned on Fridays so they can be isolated over the weekend before new ones being sent out on a Monday. Please can you send your child's reading record in every day so that we can record when they do Guided Reading with an adult in class.

This week's learning:
|Reading Books||In Reception school reading books are changed weekly. Your child will be allocated a book change day, which you will be notified of in the Autumn Term. If there is no comment in your child's Reading Record we will assume you have not had a chance to read with your child. Please record the text title(s) in your child's reading record.|
|P.E. Day||Our P.E. day is Friday morning. P.E. kits should be kept in school at all times. We will send them home over the school holidays. Long hair needs to be tied back and earrings are not allowed to be worn in school at any time. It would be helpful if girls could have a pair of white ankle socks in their PE bag for the days they come to school wearing tights.|
|Our Forest School day is Thursday morning. Please make sure your child has their forest school kit and wellies in school.|
